Not your usual consultant
About me
I’m a writer, a creative, an analyst, and a business leader. My unusual background has made me an out-of-the-box thinker - or maybe that background came about because I tend not to see and act through the standard lens. I have three Rom Coms published under a pseudonym, write articles and a Substack, and enjoy time spent outdoors, in motion.
I hold a masters degree in international economics and development, and a degree in fashion design. My nearly 20 years experience include leading strategy, program and product innovation, data, design, and beyond. Over the last decade, I’ve mostly worked behind the scenes with executives at Fortune 500 companies to solve complicated problems, develop future-back strategies, and help leaders change the game they’re playing in.
Background & Approach
A Sweeping Perspective
In my 20 year career, I’ve worked from New York, DC, and Seattle, to Mexico, Ethiopia, Netherlands, and India. My industry experience spans retail, technology, hospitality, economics and analytics. All this offers me insight into how different workplaces and organizations run. Overall ’m eclectic, curious, creative, and get $#*t done.
A Human Approach
I take a human approach to all my projects, workshops and writing. As a consultant and former Strategy Director in a Fortune 500 company, I’ve had ample opportunities to work with executives at the highest level, learning the challenges created by the competing demands on their time and priorities. And as a team leader, teaching psychological safety, emotional intelligence, and leadership to my people is one of the most important parts of my work. I’ve also roofed a barn with my dad and a crew in Maine, and you know what? Still the same need for coordination, communication, collaboration and team work.
Multi-Disciplinary Decision Making
I use a multidisciplinary model to drive decision making. Years ago, during my masters in economics, I gained the skills to assess strategy alongside economic impact, bringing a quantitative, data-driven approach blended with qualitative field-research. This combination of techniques allows for broad insights combined with deep context and honest feedback about the why behind the numbers.
A Bridge Between Strategy and Execution
Combined, my skills and backgrounds have allowed me to specialize in getting things done in that blurry, complicated, and often politically charged space between strategy and execution. It can be humbling work, often requiring action in an almost invisible way to shape order out of chaos. It takes pulling the right levers, from shaping the highest leadership vision to driving the tiniest tactical detail. I’ll ferret out what needs translating across silos to develop a realistic roadmap for action. And as a seasoned creator of many operational innovations for both business and technology clients, I am adept at identifying the most impactful changes, how to implement them, and how to coral and motivate the right team to make it happen.
